Who Runs Adventure Valley Day Camp?
A: Adventure Valley Day Camp is owned and run by the Fishman Family and their outstanding, experienced and extensive senior staff team who collectively supervise every aspect of the daily operation of camp. Their direct involvement in providing personalized attention to the needs of each camper will ensure a fantastic summer for your child and you!
Can Adventure Valley Day Camp Provide References?
A: Yes! We have an extensive list of camp parents who have said that they would be happy to provide glowing testimonials.
Can The Camp Accommodate Children With Special Needs?
A: We are happy to integrate children with special needs, depending on their individual circumstances. Camp is an excellent way for children of all abilities to grow and learn, and being exposed to a broad range of people with different skills and talents is a rewarding and enriching experience for any child. We can provide shadows or support staff, or in some cases, parents may send someone familiar and experienced in working with their child. Parents of a child with special needs are asked to call the Camp Director to discuss the inclusion of their child at camp.
Can My Child Be In a Group With His/Her Friends?
A: We will make a strong effort to fulfill all requests for friends of the same gender, grade and camp session to be in the same group.
Will My Child Learn To Swim At Camp?
A: Yes! We pride ourselves on our excellent swim instruction program. Each camper has a Red Cross swimming lesson every day. Campers are grouped for swimming lessons based on their swimming ability. Lesson groups are small, taught by a Red Cross swim instructor.
What Happens When It Rains?
A: We have extensive indoor facilities for all campers on rainy days. We continue with our regular program inside. Instead of swimming lessons in the pool, our aquatic staff will teach the water safety component of the Red Cross swim program, or plan a special event or activity.
How Important is Camper Safety?
A: Camper safety is our number one priority! We continuously evaluate every aspect of camp, including arrivals, departures, transportation, food safety, staff qualifications, fire prevention and record keeping. We keep current with the newest developments in camp safety and operations. We are committed to keeping Adventure Valley Day Camp as safe and secure as possible.
What Do You Do To Ensure Safety On The Property?
A: We are far removed from any roads or intersections, and can only be accessed by crossing our bridge. We have a CCTV surveillance system with multiple cameras monitoring the property. Our Senior Staff members have immediate and on-going communication available through the use of commercial grade walkie-talkies. No visitors are allowed on our property unless they are accompanied by one of our senior staff members.
Do You Ever Have Overnights At Camp?
A: Our older campers will have the opportunity to stay at camp for an exciting and unique overnight experience. Weather permitting, we camp on our property the old-fashioned way – in tents under the stars. In the event of rain, our huge clubhouse can easily accommodate everyone indoors. Overnights are scheduled for once in July and once in August.
What If My Child is Not Fully Toilet Trained?
A: Campers who are 2 and 3 years old do not have to be fully toilet trained.
What Happens If My Child Feels Sick At Camp?
A: We have a full time registered nurse at camp at all times. A camper who feels sick will go to the nurse, who evaluates his/her condition. If necessary, the nurse will contact the child’s parents to pick him/her up. Our camp nurse also treats basic injuries that occur during the day, such as bug bites, scrapes, etc. The camp nurse administers all medication to campers who require it during the camp day.
Do You Offer Extended Hours?
A: Yes, we have an optional extended day program. You can bring your child to camp as early as 8:00 am, and pick up as late as 5:30 pm. Staff will supervise extended day campers while they relax and unwind after their busy and exciting camp day. There is an additional charge for the extended day program.
Can I Visit My Child During The Summer?
A: Yes! We are happy to open our doors to parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles…almost every day of camp. The only condition with our open door policy is that visitors check in at the office (with proper ID of course) and walk around camp with one of our Adventure Valley staff members.
