It’s time to face reality – summer has come to an end – but that doesn’t mean all fun has! Each season presents us with something new and exciting, so we want to help you keep the camp spirit alive all year long!
When you think of fall, you probably think of the 3 L’s: Leaves, lower temperatures, and learning. But today we’re going to add one more L to the list (love), because you and your kids will adore these activities that truly embrace the season!
1) See the Leaves’ True Colours
As tough as it is to pull yourself away from watching Autumn In New York in a snuggie with a pumpkin spice latte, the fall colours are only here for a limited time before they become flying colours!
Take a short stroll in your local neighbourhood or a longer hike in a community or national park – there are tons of opportunities in the GTA to get an awesome view of that breathtaking foliage. It’s easy to make a day of it with the kids and help reconnect them with nature!
While apple and pumpkin-picking are basically fall mandatories, there are a bunch of other orchard and farm activities that families should definitely take advantage of! Whether it’s corn mazes, hayrides, petting zoos, or themed obstacle courses, there’s no shortage of weekend and after-school fun to keep the tykes fall-happy. We recommend Whittmore’s farm in Markham– it features a spooky forest, climbers, playhouses and much, much more!
3) For days that are more than just “a bit chilly”…
Did someone say #DIY? It’s time to get artsy with some fall-themed crafts! The sky is the limit with how you can decorate your fridge, your outfit, or your entire home! Learn to make wreaths, necklaces, coasters, ornaments, lanterns, chimes – the list goes on – all with the help of Country Living.
4) Current Events
From Wonderland’s Halloween Haunt to our Family Pumpkin Day on Oct. 23rd, there are oodles of events that celebrate the season all throughout the GTA. Check out the long list, and pick your favourite art exhibits, fairs, markets, parades, shows, and festivals! You could even start planning for winter – and next spring too!
Are you ready to start falling for fall? We’re lucky to live in a place with such diverse seasons – so let’s welcome this one with open arms and enjoy all it has to offer!
