Our Staff is Dedicated to YOU
One of the greatest assets Adventure Valley Day Camp enjoys is its staff. Young adults are selected for their leadership ability, skills, experience and ability to engage in outrageous camp fun. What stands out for us is good character, a sense of humor, a passion for fun, strong communication skills and a keen interest in spending time outside, with kids, having a blast!
Many of our staff return year after year, and we know why! We treat our staff like family, and support each other all day, everyday. We know that our staff, more than any other single factor, make AV the incredible camp that it is.
AV'S head staff mostly join us from colleges and universities within Canada. We also have many young teachers who join us each summer on our Head Staff team. We look for Head staff who have experience in a camp setting a GENUINE interest in working with children, and the ability to lead and develop a group of younger staff. Head Staff must have the necessary levels of maturity, common sense, dependability, trust and selflessness required in working with children and developing leaders.
AV'S staff join us mostly from high schools, colleges and universities within Canada. Having a good match between staff and camp is very important.
We look for staff who have good skills in a needed area, plus a GENUINE interest in working with children. We hire staff who come to camp to "give of themselves" to children, because we understand how important our staff are, and how they can make or break your experience!
Swim staff have at minimum their Bronze Cross and Red Cross Instructors certifications. Preference is given to those who also hold their NLS. We are a team of 16 Swim staff, who work in the pools daily to provide a private swim school caliber program for our campers. Swimming is a very important skill for children to learn and we pride ourselves on delivering an excellent swim program.
All activity leaders have experience and interest in programming and leading their specialty area. The role of an activity leader starts weeks before camp with in depth planning and preparation. Along with the help of the camp director and program co-ordinator the activity leader will finalize their programs and develop a supply list to ensure a successful summer program!
